Language and Sports Camp with McGill!

Prolang now offers a day camp for kids in Montreal. The camp takes place at McGill, offering great facilities and a safe environment for kids. This is a great opportunity for kids and teenagers, between the ages of 10 and 16, to study a language and play different sports. Campers come from everywhere: Brazil, Mexico, Korea and many more countries. This allows for interesting cultural discoveries. It’s a fantastic way to make memories and to meet friends from everywhere around the world.

Ontario Changing Rules for Teacher Education

As of September 2015, the Ontarian government will change the rules around teacher education programs. Ontario and Quebec operate differently when it comes to training teachers. In Quebec, teachers have to do a four-year program in order to teach in the province. In Ontario, future teachers must do a three-year postsecondary degree and then do a one-year teacher education program. In two years, the teacher education program in Ontario will double, which will add another year of studies for future teachers. This change is to help reduce an oversupply of teachers in Ontario.

Intensive English at a Standstill

In 2011, the Liberal government had announced that all elementary schools would offer an intensive English program for 6th graders, as of 2015-2016. The Minister of Education has put a hold on the project, stating that it would be almost impossible to make this program obligatory in all institutions. For the moment, the integration of this new program will be optional and each school will decide if they want to implement the intensive English classes or not.
